PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The confetti has been thrown. The sash has been awarded and Eric Paul Leue is Mr. LA Leather 2014!
After eight days of leather action: motorcycle rides, roller skating, uniform cocktail parties…and a Micky’s WeHo invasion, Los Angeles Leather Pride 2014 is a wrap. Thousands of people from around the state, nation and world descended on L.A. for a week of fun and revelry.
Leather Pride Week started on Sunday March 23 with Chariots of Fire – Leather Pride Ride II sponsored by Payasos LA and the Satyrs Motorcycle Club. They started at the ONE Archives Foundation downtown, and drove to leather venues all around L.A., ending up at the Bullet Bar in North Hollywood where all ten contestants drew their number order.
On Tuesday was a parody filled roast for the outgoing Mr. LA Leather 2013 Justin Emmerick. Our Leather Shakira lip-synced for his life as he and his brothers recapped Justin’s great year as Mr. Leather.
Thursday was the Prowl and Growl (Leather invades WeHo!). Leather met lacey jock straps and everyone had a great time.
Wednesday was an evening of culture and celebration of art at the Tom of Finland Foundation TOM House sponsored by the Los Angeles Leather Coalition. Later that night everyone headed over to Hades on Wheels (Leather/ Fetish Rollerskating) held once again at Moonlight Roller Rink in Glendale and sponsored by Payasos LA.
On Friday The Assembly at Rough Trade Gear was a more formal event – “The largest Uniform Party on the West Coast” – were the B&B, the Black and Tans, and BLUF raised the bar for a high brow leather cocktail party. Afterwards everyone marched down the block to the Eagle LA for the Cigar Social sponsored by Maximus. The hundreds of men who still had the energy proceeded down to Tibal Rites: Men’s Play Party at Sanctuary LAX – a hugely successful event held by Avatar Club Los Angeles.
The big day started on Saturday with the men from PSLOD “Turning Up the Heat” at an afternoon Beer Bust, Cigar Social, and BBQ at the Bullet Bar. Then later The 15th Annual Mr. LA Leather Contest was held at Circus Disco. All ten contestants did and AMAZING job in the gladiator themed show. But, it was Eagle LA Mr. Leather Eric Paul Leue who was awarded the victory and the title of Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2014. Mr. LA Leather Bear Gabriel Green placed 1st Runner Up and Mr. Regiment Andy Covarrubias was the 2nd Runner Up. Eric will go on to represent Los Angeles at International Mr. Leather in Chicago this May. Gabriel will have the opportunity to compete for American Leatherman, also in Chicago, this October. The night concluded with LEGION Victory Dance where over 1000 of L.A.’s hottest guys danced until 4 am!!!
The week wrapped up on Sunday with the fantastic Victory Brunch & 11th Annual Southland Honors Awards at Pistons in Long beach. Several honors were bestowed including Business of the Year to 665 Leather and Fetish Co. Event of the Year to Off Sunset Festival. The Club of the Year award was a rare tie, and went to the Regiment of the Black and Tans & the Satyrs MC. Also honored: Esteban and Leo with the Jeff Burnam Community Service Award, Jeremy Ronceros with the TNG Award. Hunter Fox took home the George Wong Person of the Year Award.
LA Leather Pride events drew thousands of people worldwide and media from many outlets from all over the country. If you were not able to attend you certainly missed a week of leather pride and excitement.
